Three Earth-like planets discovered orbiting nearby star
Three planets, thought to be Earth-like orbiting a nearby star, have been discovered along with 4 others.
They are all Earth sized but three of them are said to be in the Goldilocks zone where water could exist.
The star is called TRAPPIST-1 and is only 39 light years away from Earth.
Another interesting solar system discovered in space.
More of these types of systems are being found recently which suggests many other stars will have planetary systems.

No doubt as technology advances we will discover many more solar systems.

I think they have discovered a handful already which suggests it's going to be a common occurrence.Copie wrote:No doubt as technology advances we will discover many more solar systems.

Very interesting to find 7 planets in a short space of time around the same star.
More to come me thinks.

Re: Three Earth-like planets discovered orbiting nearby star
I reckon there will be a glut of new orbiting planets found soon.
What a nightmare they will have naming them all

And more to the point...................

The star is relatively close but I would say humans are a few thousand years off getting anywhere near it, if ever.
