Ransomware attack cripples networks

Post by Ironside »

Ransomware attack cripples networks

About 150 countries were hit by a new Ransom Ware cyber attack.
The malware hit the PC networks and demanded around £250.00 to get access to their files.
Microsoft has released an update but it is too late for many networks that have already suffered.
Many businesses in the UK were affected like the National Health Service.
Many NHS appointments had to be cancelled because of this.
The person who done this has allegedly been paid money to release files :o
Expect more to come as these sorts of attack are not rare and have been happening for well over a decade.
The police are on this but don't expect the one who did it to be caught soon as these people are clever.

If the NHS have our data on their systems they should make them secure.
I don't think Windows XP is a safe enough system nowadays and this last ransomware attack has proved it.
David Bowie has died - what more can I say

That's correct, but some are getting away with it because they are paid in bitcoins whatever them are

I was there two weeks ago and they had it running at my hospital.
The poor receptionist says the computers are running slow today but I wonder how many days of the week she uses that old peach

Yip, it is those who can't access dodgy files I suspect.

It amazes me that this sort of thing can happen.
I refer to holding people to ransom over the internet.
I reckon in the future we will look back and laugh at all this.
The Great British follies - interesting indeed!
