Dangers of old rice
Rice, the food that most of us have eaten at sometime or another can be bad for you.
Uncooked rice may contain spores that sometimes survive when the rice is cooked.
Should you leave the leftover rice for too long at room temperature, those spores turn into dangerous bacteria.
They multiply very quickly.
Ultimately, all that breeding results in toxins.
We do know that you can get food poisoning from eating re-heated rice.
However its not the re-heating that does it, if you have not stored it properly, that's the problem.
After a meal which has rice and there is leftovers, get is stored in the fridge as soon as possible.
In other words, should you leave it out all night then eat it, you could be in trouble.
The result could be vomiting or diarrhoea.
So, clean rice before cooking if possible and cool in the fridge as soon as possible after you are finished with it.
Always remember to make sure it is piping hot the first time it is cooked and on re-heating.
Never re-heat rice more than once.
