The solar system a ninth planet again

Indeed, this category includes discussions that are out of this world. The universe is never ending so they say, and there are so many things out there to talk about. Obviously, new discoveries in outer space are coming thick and fast.

The solar system a ninth planet again

Post by Bystander »

The solar system a ninth planet again

A new planet may have been found to orbit our solar system
It is believed to be 10x the mass of our own Earth.
While it takes the Earth to go around the Sun one year it takes this new planet 10,000 to 20,000 years.
More tests are to be made to confirm things but after Pluto got demoted from a planet, it looks like we have a ninth planet again.

Hold on a moment.
We can see planetary systems around stars that are light years away but have only discovered another planet orbiting around our Sun :o
We can even detect very small objects that could pose problems to Earth as well.
Discovering another planet in our own solar system has made me feel like losing faith in this field.
The new planet has ten times the mass of Earth so how come its took all this time to find.
More to the point, are there any other planets in our solar system?
I will not be reading any newspapers today, its my day off!

There's my faith gone in astronomy :?
We have took this long to detect the ninth planet after what we can see on the other side of the universe.
Very weird!

It must have been very difficult to detect the ninth planet due to its distance from us.
Its an amazing find.

Oh wow!
How did they miss this one?
Discovering the ninth planet in this day and age is mind boggling really!
If we have just discovered another planet in our own solar system now what else is waiting to be discovered

I really can't believe what I have just read.
They have just discovered the ninth planet?
Surely that is the tenth planet because I think Pluto should be a planet.
And I am not the only one!
That aside, how on earth with all the technology we have do we just find another massive planet in our own solar system.
Beats me!

Really!
They dropped Pluto as the ninth planet, looked for another one and found it?
I find it hard to take in how this new planet has just turned up.

We know so much about the universe but to just discover that our star has another big planet orbiting around it is something else.
David Bowie has died - what more can I say

Its amazing to find this ninth planet now
It means if they just discovered this, what about any small destructive object heading toward Earth now :o

You couldn't write this script if you tried.
We can do all sorts and have so much technology but just discovering another planet in our solar system :o
I have lost a bit faith in things.
If only Patric Moore was alive now, I just wonder what he would say about finding this ninth planet.
The Great British follies - interesting indeed!

I also find it strange that they have just managed to find what is a massive planet in our solar system.
However, they have said that the distances involved are unimaginable, so we will have to let them off
I used to trust Patrick Moore, I would have waited for his response to get my head round it.
Imagine Patrick on finding the ninth planet :o
