Indeed, this is the Health and Well-Being News Forum. Obviously, you are able to open up new threads when these types of stories make the news headlines. However, be descriptive where possible.

Trimethylaminuria - a rare condition

Trimethylaminuria - a rare condition

Kelly Fidoe-White from Oldham, near Manchester in the UK has the extremely rare condition.
The poor woman has had to endure all sorts of mental stress because of the way she smells.
Trimethylaminuria is otherwise known as 'fish odour syndrome'.
Her body can't break down a compound called choline that is found in some foods.
As a result the compound comes out of her body in sweat or her breath that she can't smell.
However others do.
Kelly works her shifts as a radiographer and workers have complained as well as this she gets many insults from others.
Because of the rare condition there is no cure yet.
Obviously her condition will cause a lot of stress and she will clean herself rigidly but the smell doesn't go away.

Poor woman, this can't be nice.
I once used TCP for a sore throat and that smell was with me all day.
Another time I have some onions for lunch but 8 hours later someone asked if I'd been eating pickled onion crisps.
So obviously, having a fishy smell forever is going to be challenging.
